BOOK OF CONDOLENCE

Following the tragic passing on Friday, 29 June 2018, of His Excellency Mr. Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, immediate past Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, (6th August, 2012 to 7th January, 2017), Mission hereby informs that a Book of Condolence has been opened at the premises of the Ghana High Commission from Monday, 9th to Friday, 13th July 2018 from 11:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at:

Before becoming Vice President in August 2012, H. E. Mr. Amissah-Arthur was Governor of the Bank of Ghana from 2009 to 2012.

From 1983 to 1986, he served as a Special Assistant to the Secretary of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Kwesi Botchwey under the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) Government.

H. E. Mr. Amissah-Arthur also served as the Deputy Secretary for Finance in the PNDC Government from February 1986 to March 1993. From April 1993, he continued as the Deputy Minister for Finance under the Fourth Republic’s first government until March 1997.

H. E. Mr. Amissah-Arthur, was appointed Governor of the Bank of Ghana in October 2009 by then-President John Evans Atta Mills. He held that position until August 6 2012, when he became Vice-President of Ghana following the death of H. E. Atta Mills. He was 67 years old and was survived by a wife and two children.

THe High Commissioner H.E Papa Owusu-Ankomah was joined by the Head of Chancery Mrs Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyeman to sign the book at the Belgrave Square offices whilst other senior staff at the Mission signed the book at the Mission’s Highgate Hill premises.
