Ghana Stock Exchange

Since Ghana’s stock exchange commenced in 1990, this young institution has emerged as one of Africa’s premier financial centres. In 1999, it was adjudged the best performing stock exchange in Africa.

The exchange trades the shares of some 22 listed companies, with a total market capitalisation of US$1 billion. More significantly, equities and bonds traded since the launch have delivered outstanding performance.

A governing council, representative of the licensed dealing members and listed companies, ensures the strictest business regulations and adherence to the highest legal and ethical standards.

Day-to-day operations are supervised by a qualified, experienced management team. To accelerate transactions, an automated trading, clearing and settlement system is being introduced.
